More information

PermaJet has launched a range of effective, professional, fast-drying canvas varnishes – available in gloss, satin and matt finishes, using a unique water-based polymer formulation.

The varnishes are designed specifically for all inkjet canvases, especially PermaJet's own brand, giving a clear, water-resistant and non-yellowing protective coating.

All canvas users are strongly advised to protect their finished digital canvas prints with a varnish or coating – absolutely essential to protect the image from dirt, UV ink fading, airborne contaminants and abrasion, as well as annoying fingerprints!

PermaPROtect varnishes are supplied ready to use, so no thinning is needed, and they can be applied with our custom foam roller kit (sold separately) for the best results. If needed, the varnishes can be thinned by adding up to 20% water. This may extend the drying time slightly, but gives the product the right consistency for use in paint sprayers for greater coverage.

The formulation improves the lightfastness of all your digital canvas prints, while also adding saturation, improving colour gamut and increasing black density.

PermaJet has taken steps to ensure the PermaPROtect varnish range meets the necessary protection standards by having it independently tested and approved by a major UK testing laboratory.

The varnishes also prevent the canvas edge from cracking when folded and protect against other environmental pollutants. The varnish is milky white in the tin but dries to a crystal-clear finish in under 20 minutes after application. Also suitable for use on inkjet fine art paper surfaces, giving them better water and fade resistance (always test on a sample area first).

Each 2.5-litre tin of PermaPROtect treats at least 40 square metres of canvas with a single coat. Thinning can increase this (depending on the application method and the thickness of the coating applied).
